Municipal Transfer Station, Curbside Waste and Recyclables Collection Schedule and frequently asked questions.


The Municipal Transfer Station is a municipally operated waste and recyclables transfer site located on Highway 125 between Red Lake and Balmertown. Various types of refuse are accepted, but some items may require an additional fee in addition to the standard disposal fee.

Waste Disposal Tickets and Bag Tags
Waste Disposal Tickets and Garbage Bag Tags can be used to pay for disposal fees of waste at the Transfer Station and are available from the Municipal Office, the Transfer Station, TJ's Kwik Stop, Mitchel's Midtown, Diane's Gas Bar, and Red Lake Community Centre.
The Transfer Station also accepts cash, debit and major credit cards. Other payment options are available to large volume customers. Please contact the Treasury Department at 807-735-2096 x221 for information.
Clean Wood, Metal, E-Waste, Brush, Tires, Recyclables
Accepted free of charge.
Hours of Operation
The Municipal Transfer Station is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, 10am to 4pm.
General Waste Disposal
The Transfer Station is equipped with a vehicle scale that is used to determine the weight of refuse being deposited. The current cost per Kg is listed in Section 'O' of the Schedule of Fees
Household Hazardous Waste Program
Household hazardous waste is collected on Saturdays for transport to approved handling facilities.

Curbside collection requires garbage bags be tagged with a valid municipal bag tag. Bag tags are available for sale at the Municipal Office, the Waste Disposal site, TJ's Kwik Stop, Mitchel's Midtown, Diane's Gas Bar, and Red Lake Community Centre. The current cost of tags is listed in Section 'O' of the Schedule of Fees.
